Case Study: Full Service Jacksonville Pest Control Company

Even in the midst of a lockdown, Great Leap Studios is still here trying to help businesses thrive. We’re tasked at the moment with a new project – a pest control company in Jacksonville – that has been faced with several unique challenges:

  • It has been the subject of multiple hacks. We don’t have control of their website, so we’re not able to see why they’re being hacked consistently, but every time their site has been hacked they have dropped in search engines and do not appear to go back up immediately.
  • It has a lot of content, but none of it is high quality. The writer that was in control of their site in the past did a good job of completing unique content, but did not go above and beyond, using casual language and limited information so that the pages looked more like fluff than high end work.
  • There is a lot of competition. In Jacksonville – like most of Florida – there are severe pest problems which have opened the door for many, many pest control companies. Many of these companies are national corporations. We’ll be competing with several large, well funded organizations.

There were also very questionable decisions in the past on this site. For example, while they’re based in Jacksonville and Jacksonville is the biggest city with the most opportunity, the pest control pages all focused on Orange Park (population 8400) with only a tangential mentioning of Jacksonville. It’s not clear why, but I suspect the previous marketer thought it would be easier to compete.

So that’s where we are now. Right now, I’m in the process of rewriting all of the pages for the site with lengthier and more in depth content, fixing some very unusual SEO bugs, and trying to add some simple but popular keywords in the area. Afterwards, I’ll be creating several press releases and do a branding push on Facebook. Once there are interesting updates, I’ll do my best to come back here and talk about them.
